Advanced Equine Emergency First-AidYou're at an event, or you're in a remote place, and no one would be able to get to you within a reasonable time to help, including your vet, and you need help with your horse now. What are you going to do? You're deep in it and it's just you and your companion.
Get ready to use your visual, auditory, reading & writing, and kinesthetic skills! No matter what skill level you are, we HoPE to teach you something new! Join us for a one-day, highly advanced equine emergency first aid course and learn what to do in the most extreme situations! From trapped horses to poison, burns to bites, hypothermia to tie-ups, fractures to sucking chest wounds! (Did she just say “sucking chest wounds?” that sounds serious!) YES! I did, folks! This course covers and prepares the student to handle serious injuries, increasing the chance of survival, where without intervention, the horse would not have survived. We provide biosecurity information including diseases, symptom identification, what protocols exist, transmission, prevention and reporting requirements, as well as field triage of acute neurological disease/issues. We Offer Two Intents Remote/Wilderness Track: This track is intended for both Western, or English-style, riders who enjoy riding outdoors, trail riding, back country riding, camping, or living three (or more) hours from vet care.
Local/Competitive Track: This track is intended for those riding competitively in the arena environment, who may be travelling to shows, competitions, etc. and are NOT far from vet care. We cover common injuries seen in stalled horses and around the arena environment. Both courses require the Basic Health and Emergency First Aid course as a pre-requisite. HoPE’s price for either intention is $159.00 US dollars. All attendees receive a certificate of completion and an Advanced First Aid manual to keep in your first-aid kit. * Some hosts may require a Facility fee in addition to HoPE’s tuition, and/or may offer the opportunity to purchase a meal for lunch. |
