Advanced Equine
Emergency First-Aid

You're in a remote place, or a long way from home; no one would be able to get to you within a reasonable time to help, or your vet is more than several hours away, but you need help with your horse NOW. What are you going to do?

For Starters,
You're going to take this course!

Join us for a one-day, highly advanced equine emergency first aid course and learn what to do in the most extreme situations! From trapped horses to poison, burns to bites, hypothermia to tie-ups, setting fractures to prepping for a sucking chest wound long enough to get you to your vet!

This course covers and prepares the student to address serious injuries, increasing the chance of the horse's survival, where without intervention, the horse would not have survived.
This course is recognized by the following organizations:

✚ PATH – Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship
✚ EAGALA – Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association

We Offer Two Intents

Both courses require the Health and Emergency First Aid (Level 1) course as a pre-requisite.

Tuition for this course is $159.00* US dollars, or a discounted tuition at $295 for both Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
All attendees receive a certificate of completion and a 50+ page Advanced First Aid manual to keep in your first-aid kit.

* Some hosts may require a Facility fee in addition to the normal tuition, and/or may offer the opportunity to purchase a meal for lunch for an additional meal fee.
Remote/Wilderness Track (Level 2):
This track is intended for both Western, or English-style, riders who enjoy riding outdoors, trail riding, back country riding, camping, or living three, or more, hours from vet care. We'll cover tips on how to plan a safe ride, mapping it out, knowing what to pack, noxious plants and weeds to steer clear of, communication methods to use in remote areas, and using the environment around you to use as first aid tools.
Local/Competitive Track (Level 2):
This track is intended for those riding competitively in the arena environment, who may be traveling to shows, competitions, etc. and are NOT far from vet care, but perhaps far from their normal vet, or home. We cover common injuries seen in stalled horses and around the arena environment. We provide biosecurity information including diseases, symptom identification, what protocols exist, transmission, prevention and reporting requirements, as well as field triage of acute neurological disease/issues.
